Privacy
Short version: we store what you type in the speed form plus a one-way hash of your IP for spam protection. We never store an exact address or your raw IP.
What we store from the speed form
- Country and, if you choose, a region/state — never a street address or full postal code.
- Your hardware kit and plan.
- Download, upload, latency, an optional obstruction %, the date measured, and an optional note.
- A SHA-256 hash of your IP address combined with a secret salt — used only to rate-limit submissions. It cannot be reversed to your address.
Why
To build aggregate, anonymous speed statistics by country, and to stop spam. Country plus an optional region is not personal data and is enough for useful aggregation.
How long
Approved measurements are kept as part of the public aggregate dataset. TODO: confirm a concrete retention policy and contact for removal requests before launch.
No accounts, no tracking
There are no user accounts and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers in this MVP.
